AHA Learning Center is operated by the Commodore Jose S. Francisco Foundation, Inc. (“AHA Learning Center”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with Republic Act No. 10173, the Data Privacy Act of 2012, its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and the issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we use and safeguard it, and the rights you have over it.
Personal data we collect
We only collect the personal data you choose to give us, together with the minimum technical information needed for our website to work. This may include:
- Contact and inquiry details — your name, email address, mobile number, organization, and the contents of the message you send when you use our contact or volunteer forms.
- Donation details — your name, email address, mobile number, the amount and purpose of your gift, and any proof of payment (such as a screenshot or deposit slip) you upload so we can confirm and acknowledge your donation.
- Newsletter details — the email address you provide when you subscribe to updates.
- Messages you send us — anything you type into our on-site chat, including any contact details you choose to share there.
- Basic technical information — limited, non-identifying information your browser sends automatically (such as browser type and general usage), used only to keep the website secure and working properly.
You do not need to provide any personal data to browse the public pages of our site.
Why we collect it and our lawful basis
We process your personal data only for legitimate purposes and on a lawful basis under the Data Privacy Act, namely:
- To respond to your inquiries and follow up on volunteer or partnership interest — based on your request and our legitimate interest in assisting you.
- To process, confirm, and acknowledge your donations, and to keep proper financial and organizational records — based on your instruction to donate and on our legal and regulatory obligations as a registered non-profit.
- To send you the updates you have subscribed to — based on your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
- To keep our website secure and functioning — based on our legitimate interest.
How we use your data
We use your personal data only for the purposes for which it was collected — to reply to you, to acknowledge and record donations, to send updates you asked for, and to maintain and secure our website. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Sharing and disclosure
We keep your personal data confidential. We may share it only:
- With trusted service providers who help us operate — for example, to deliver our emails, host our website, or process the payments you choose to make — and only to the extent needed for them to perform those services on our behalf, under confidentiality and data-protection commitments.
- When required by law, regulation, or the lawful order of a competent authority; to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim; or to protect the rights and safety of our beneficiaries, staff, or the public.
We do not transfer your personal data to any party for its own independent marketing.
Data retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, and for as long as required by applicable laws, including financial and regulatory record-keeping. When it is no longer needed, we securely dispose of or anonymize it.
How we protect your data
We use reasonable and appropriate organizational, physical, and technical security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or loss. Access to personal data is limited to authorized personnel who need it for their work, and sensitive submissions such as proof of payment are kept in restricted, access-controlled storage. While we take these steps seriously, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights as a data subject
Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, you have the right to:
- be informed about how your personal data is collected and processed;
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- object to, or withdraw your consent to, the processing of your personal data;
- have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected;
- have your personal data erased or blocked where allowed by law;
- obtain a copy of the personal data you provided, in an accessible format (data portability);
- be indemnified for damages arising from inaccurate, incomplete, unlawfully obtained, or unauthorized use of your personal data; and
- lodge a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
Cookies and tracking
We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics on this website, and we do not track your activity across other websites or serve advertising. The only browser storage we use is within our restricted staff area, and only to keep authorized personnel signed in — it is never used to track visitors.
Children’s privacy
This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors through this website without the consent of a parent or guardian. Personal information relating to the children in our learning programs is collected and handled separately, with the consent of their parents or guardians, and is treated as sensitive personal information under the Data Privacy Act with strict confidentiality.
